Plasma Skin Tightening – FAQs

Plasma Skin Tightening FAQs

Looking for a method of skin tightening that will deliver similar results to surgery without the scalpel, stitches, bandages and prolonged downtime?

Plasma skin tightening is well known for its success with • eyelid tightening, including under eyes and excess upper eyelid skin. • lines and wrinkles such as crow’s feet and frown lines, nasolabial lines, and smokers’ lines on the upper lip. • jowls and neck tightening. • loose tummy skin after birth. • removal of skin lesions such as moles and skin tags. • This innovative technology utilises plasma – formed through ionising atmospheric gases – to stimulate instant contraction and tightening of skin fibres.

What are the benefits of Plasma Skin Tightening?

Instant results are visible immediately after non-surgical, minimally invasive treatment; more affordable than surgery. Minimal downtime immediate results no cutting of the skin, no stitches, and no major trauma to the skin treatment time of less than 1 hour.

What does the treatment involve?

The treatment involves the use of a plasma pen, an extremely accurate hand-held device that works by utilizing the voltage in the air between its tip and the natural gases emitted from our skin to form a plasma charge. A small electrical arc is created and instantly shrinks the targeted skin. After the treatment, the tissues retract, and the skin then goes through a natural regeneration process by stimulating the fibroblasts to produce collagen and elastin; this beneficial effect can remain for 2-3 years, leaving the client with fresher, younger and smoother-looking skin.

What skin conditions are suitable for Plasma Skin Tightening?

Plasma Skin Tightening can treat many imperfections without any actual cutting of the skin. It can be used for • Eyelid Tightening, including lower eyelids and excess upper eyelid skin. • Skin imperfections, including skin tags and sunspots. • Improvement in the appearance of acne scars. • Diminishing Stretch marks. • Tightening loose stomach skin after pregnancy. • Lines and wrinkles around the eyes (crows feet) and mouth (smokers’ lines). • Plasma Facelift and Plasma Necklift.

Is Plasma Skin Rejuvenation safe?

Yes, treatment is very safe when carried out by a competent Practitioner. This technology does not use scalpels or laser to remove excess skin, thereby avoiding all risks inherent to the traditional intervention. The treatment is performed without cutting, burning or removing excess skin or fat.

Are there any side effects?

Plasma Pro Skin Tightening has been shown to be a safe treatment due to its non-invasive nature. Despite this fact, the majority of clients are likely to experience some minor side effects in the 7-10 days following treatment. Immediately after treatment, the treated area(s) will be quite red and mildly swollen. Some tiny brown marks will appear to be minor scabbing, which are carbon crusts, but in 7-10 days, these will flake away, revealing new pink skin beneath. Some swelling will be seen (especially in cases of eyelid treatment), but it is likely to only last 3-5 days at most. Swelling in the eye area is expected for a few days following an upper eyelid treatment. To avoid any more serious side effects, such as hyperpigmentation, follow the aftercare recommendations given to you by your Cosmetic Practitioner. Immediately after treatment, the treated area(s) will be quite red and mildly swollen. Mild crustations/discoloration will be seen in the treated area(s). Swelling may intensify over the following few hours and may last 2-3 days. The crustations/discoloration should resolve within 5-7 days.

Is the treatment painful?

We use a topical numbing cream to minimize any pain or discomfort as much as possible. Most of our clients tell us the treatment is not that painful (usually the eye or neck area being reported as the most sensitive.) During the treatment, you may feel some heat in the treatment area, which may be slightly uncomfortable and slightly irritating.

How long does a Plasma Skin Tightening treatment take?

Treatment takes around 30 minutes to one hour, depending on the area(s) being treated.

How many treatments are needed?

The number of treatments required will vary according to the area being treated, the skin’s laxity, the desired degree of correction and the individual’s response to the treatment. Most clients see results instantly, which continues to improve over the following 12 weeks. One treatment is often enough. However, the severity of eyelids or wrinkles and client expectations are all taken into account. Some clients may need a 2nd or 3rd treatment. We find the eyelid area often needs three treatments at six weekly intervals for best results, whereas wrinkles may need only one treatment. We recommend any extra treatments to be done 2-3 months apart.

How soon will I see the results?

The positive effects of treatment will be noticeable immediately after the first treatment, but the best results will be seen by the 8th week as the skin has had time to go through a full regenerative cycle.

How long do the results last?

Clients’ results vary depending on diet, lifestyle, and how your skin naturally ages. As Plasma is more than a simple tightening treatment (skin volume is actually reduced), the effects should last as long as they would with invasive surgery. Like all surgical and cosmetic procedures, the effects of plasma are not entirely permanent, as it does not stop any further ageing. Still, the positive results should last years, depending on the area treated.
